the road;
England – 1978
The Marauders and company have been graduated from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, unmarred and unafraid. However, deep in the shadows of the night, where can never dream to imagine, Lord Voldemort is gathering followers, and he is not doing so only temporarily, as the Ministry suggests. No, there is something… unsettling that when people speak out against this man, this Tom Riddle, they have the uncanny habit of disappearing in the midst of the night. And now there is talk that Riddle is not only after power, but something more deadly.
Each and every day, new Death Eaters, as Voldemort’s followers have so aptly dubbed themselves, eagerly join up for what they have fatefully termed “The New Revolution.” Muggleborns will be put in their place, and those of the right blood will finally obtain the positions denied to them for centuries in favor of the less worthy. No one, not even the Minister, will stand in their way.
However, even if some of the Death Eaters are active in their support and vigorous in their roles, others are less so. As they watch numerous people die at their own hands, their very own two hands, time begins to take its toll. How long can these young men and woman go on with their bloodthirsty killing before all the death at their hands begins to affect their minds?
More and more often, this dark sorcerer’s name is ignored, and when he is spoken of, it is in whispers. Though the Ministry continues to turn a blind eye, others are becoming more and more worried. Others, such as Albus Dumbledore, the famed headmaster of Hogwarts.
It was Dumbledore who knew both the culprit and his doings since the beginning, and Dumbledore feels that now is the time to bring it to a halt, no matter what the Ministry is saying. He immediately checks on old students, those who have already walked across the stage and shaken his hand. With his visit, old fears are reawakened, and people remember the unsettling terror with which the notorious wizard Grindelwald nearly gained control of the world. If this Dark Lord, as his followers are calling him, has enough power to concern the great Albus Dumbledore, then just how far is he willing to take his campaign? Will writing slander against Muggleborns and demanding more and more power not be enough?
Young wizards and witches, fresh out of school, are now faced with the terrible dilemma of choosing between what is right and what is easy. Which road will they take? For each path is wrought with terror and danger, and there is no safe way.
